Platter’s Chocolate Factory (Open year-round!)
In 1938, Carl Platter invented his trademark orange flavored chocolate in the basement of his North Tonawanda home. These days, Platter’s is not only known its traditional chocolates and sponge candies, their offerings now include homemade orange custard and orange hot fudge, along with more than 20 flavors of ice cream.
Prohaska’s Oh Sugar! Ice Cream Sweets & Treats (Now open for the 2023 season!)
Cupcakes, cookies, ice cream — oh my! With 40+ flavors to choose from, both soft and hard ice cream — Oh Sugar! is a must-visit for sweet tooth enthusiasts. In spring and summer, the shop serves ice cream and cupcakes, and then fall and winter, they accept and fill treat orders. Before you leave, take a selfie on the colorful, oversized chair outside.

In the 1930s, this old caboose would bring tourists to Lewiston; today it has been turned into a sweet spot to grab ice cream during the summer months. Offering a variety of ice cream flavors, custard and Italian ice, this picturesque location is the perfect stop while exploring the quaint village of Lewiston. If you’re in the mood for lunch or dinner, the historic coal silo next door, The Silo Restaurant, serves a full menu of hot dogs, hamburgers, sandwiches and salads.
